PCOS And Infertility
PCOS and infertility: PCOS short for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, is a frequent cause of infertility for the female. With all the advantages that modern technology has today, there will surely be something that science can do for you. However, not a lot of women out there have any idea what this condition is, let alone who the women are that have it. Physically, you may not know that you are afflicted with PCOS. During this time, you will need to take medication to stimulate your ovaries in order to allow your ovaries to release egg cells and allow them to grow and mature. However, if you are still childless after trying to create a baby for a while, you might want to take some tests to find out if it is this condition, or another that is the cause of your infertility. The embryos are left to grow in the lab for a few days and then they are put back into the uterus so that they will implant and cause a pregnancy. The reason for this wide statistic is that polycystic ovary syndrome is a complex metabolic syndrome, with multiple factors that can interfere with fertility.
If you have an irregular menstrual cycle, it could be possible that you are having PCOS. But you need to remember that just because you have an irregular menstruation does not automatically mean that you are surely afflicted with it. You also need to undergo a lot of preparation so you will truly be ready for it. Since PCOS prevents ovulation, it can affect your menstrual cycles so your physician might prescribe you with some medications in order to help your body ovulate. In PCOS, the key to helping you get pregnant is having regular ovulation. Typically the first medication that will be prescribed by the physician is Clomid or clomiphene citrate. On the whole the success rate of the IVF treatment is first-rate in instances of infertility caused by PCOS. There are experts who specialize in treating the women with PCOS and infertility. This also has IVF procedures mixing contraceptive pills, metformin, and ovarian stimulation procedures as well.
While PCOS and infertility are serious conditions, it is not nearly as impossible as it was before to have a baby. That is why before you embark on it, you need to make sure that you are prepared not only physically and emotionally, but also financially as well.
