Acne Diet Development: Creating the Diet that is Right for Your Skin and Your Stomach
Being on an acne diet is a very fascinating idea. Hasn’t everybody heard that chocolate will give you pimples? I believe we all have. So it doesn’t seem so crazy that by watching what you eat could prevent a break out.
However, an acne diet can be a hard thing to develop. It is highly personal and based on your body’s unique responses to food. There are guidelines, but each individual’s progress will mostly be trial and error. Watch your skin carefully. Write it all down. Taking pictures with your digital camera is a good way to keep a journal. When your skin clears, continue on the diet you were on at the time.
The following guidelines can help get you started on an acne diet:
* Up your intake of protein - Some dermatologists even believe that protein intake is connected to having clear skin. Oil production is limited from an enzyme located within protein. Oily skin is very vulnerable to breakouts.
* 2. Avoid carbohydrates - Don’t cut yourself off completely. But you do need to limit them so that they are only about 40 percent of your diet. This is because carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. This is why so many people think that junk food causes acne. Actually it is just that junk food is high in carbs.
* Green tea is a must - If you can, drink real green tea. The kind of green tea that you brew is the best kind. You may not like the real stuff so the green tea drinks will work. Green tea will limit the creation of androgen. Androgen is a hormone that can cause breakouts.
* Limit your total intake of salt - Iodine is usually found in salt. This is the reason we usually call table salt “iodized salt.” Of course for some people with acne, iodine can cause big breakouts.
While watching what you eat, you should also be very careful with what you put on your face. If you have acne you are already aware of what ingredients are in your facial products. Those who are prone to acne should look for oil free moisturizers. Products containing natural ingredients will least likely irritate your skin. Mineral makeups are a good investment, if you wear makeup. Many dermatologists believe that mineral makeup can actually alleviate acne problems and enhance the results of your acne diet.
