Brooke was a thirty-nine-year-old loan officer who was fed up with feeling depressed on a daily basis and tired of her abusive and excessive drinking behavior. Stated briefly, she was mad at herself for spending her hard-earned money on a valueless habit, she hated the hangovers she experienced on a regular basis, she missed her old motivation for doing various things she liked, she was tired of going through failed relationship after failed relationship due to her hazardous drinking, and she was sick of feeling lackluster every morning.

In addition she tested the fact that she had to go to court for her first DWI, she was bothered by the many times she failed to pass an alcohol test at work, she was bored with her drinking buddies, she was disgusted with how out-of-shape she was, and she was fed up with paying for alcohol-related lawyer fees.

Besides the observable alcohol-related health difficulties she now experienced, in all probability the worst part of her drinking behavior was the unreliable and dishonest individual she had turned into. In her heart she knew that she had been untruthful about her drinking behavior to her family, friends and relatives and she also knew she had been less than honest with herself about the “beneficial” consequences of drinking. Not only this but she rationalized guzzling four or five drinks before going to social events and she also justified needing two or three drinks as soon as she awakened so that she could deal with the “tension” at her job.

Her Depression and Her Abusive Drinking Result in Significant Changes in Her Life

Without a doubt that Brooke was sick of putting up with the negative consequences of her depression and her unhealthy and excessive drinking and finally made up her mind that something important had to change in her life. So she made up her mind that she would stop drinking, get professional counseling, develop a new circle of friends, start focusing on becoming a more healthy person, involve herself in some worthwhile hobbies, and start exercising.

In short, Brooke got to a special time in her life during which she comprehended that she hit rock bottom and was now ready to begin the slow road to recovery.

One of the ways that Brooke put her “plan” into action was by asking for a transfer at her workplace. When her request was granted, she moved 250 miles away to a new city. If nothing else, this certainly made making new friends and separating herself from her old pals much simpler. Then she went to see a doctor in her new city and made an appointment for a comprehensive physical exam.

Brooke Meets With a Doctor About Her Hazardous and Heavy Drinking and Her Depression

After meeting with the healthcare practitioner and taking a number of lab tests, it was concluded that Brooke had made the unfortunate change from alcohol abuse to alcohol addiction and as a result was in need of alcohol rehabilitation and alcohol detox. At this time, the doctor made it a point to review the diverse signs of alcoholism, the symptoms of alcoholism, and information about alcohol long term effects with Brooke.

The healthcare practitioner then told Brooke that it was concluded that she was clinically depressed and in need of therapy for this medical condition.

Brooke Decides to Build Up Her Body by Eating Wholesome Foods, Taking Vitamins and Minerals, Living an Alcohol-Free Way of Life, Drinking Spring Water, and Exercising

Due to her enthusiasm for following through with the rehab protocol, after seven weeks of residential treatment, Brooke was ready to begin therapy on an outpatient basis. At this point, she started working at her new job and over the weeks began fortifying her body by taking vitamins, drinking spring water, living an alcohol-free lifestyle, eating wholesome foods, and working out.

Brooke also attended to her spiritual life by joining the local Baptist church and participating in the weekly services.

After roughly seven weeks of outpatient therapy during which time she never went through a relapse, Brooke stopped going to alcohol rehab and instead started going twice every week to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Attending these meetings helped Brooke follow through with her alcohol-free lifestyle, they gave her the support she sought after, and they served as a frequent reminder of the dangerous consequences that are correlated with abusive and careless drinking.

After going to AA meetings just about ten months Brooke felt that she was ready for a relationship and so she started going out with Joshua, a young gentleman she met at church. It simply surprised Brooke how much more prepared she was for a dating relationship now that she had her excessive and hazardous drinking under control. In point of fact it also surprised Brooke how much better life was now that she wasn’t under the control of her excessive and abusive drinking. Life was now worthwhile and loaded with potential that she could have never longed for or attained when she was involved in unhealthy drinking less than a year ago.

A Success Story That is a Tribute to the Significance of Alcohol Therapy and the Power of Positive Change

Brooke’s success story is a demonstration of the importance of alcohol rehabilitation and the power of positive change. As Brooke thought about her newfound self worth and drive for involving herself in healthy, worthwhile activities, she was actually appreciative that she decided to do something positive about her careless and excessive drinking instead of giving into her depression and into the lure of her alcohol addiction. The result: she is involved in a caring relationship, she has more energy now compared with any time in her adult life, she enjoys her new job responsibilities, her life now has a positive direction, and she is in charge of her life rather than letting herself deteriorate under the control of her alcohol dependency.

How do you know that you have a problem with your drinking? When is it plain to see that you are engaging in irresponsible drinking?

If you have hopelessly tried to stop drinking or if you promised yourself that your drinking days are finished and then you realized that you were drinking in an abusive way just a few days later, the odds are exceptionally good that you have drinking problems. The key point is that if you have attempted to terminate your drinking and cannot bring this about, then your drinking is controlling you, rather than the other way around.

Likewise, if it takes larger amounts of alcohol to get the same “high,” more likely than not you need to become aware that you have a problem with your drinking.

You may be telling yourself that the rationale for your drinking is so that you can lessen your apprehension or get rid of the pain or depression that you feel. Likewise, you may be trying to avoid a negative circumstance and may be looking for something more useful, more favorable, or less mournful.

As you keep on drinking, conversely, you will grasp the fact that drinking does not elicit the same high and you will also understand that drinking doesn’t help do away with whatever was causing your pain in the first place. You may also observe that the more often you drink, the more depressed you feel.

As you continue to drink irresponsibly, regrettably, you may become an alcoholic and, as a result, you may add another important predicament to manage rather than learning about more efficient and beneficial ways of coping with your alcohol induced predicament.

An Alcohol Appraisal is Probably Necessary

If you have concluded that you have a drinking problem, perchance the most positive thing you can do for yourself is to call your physician or healthcare practitioner and arrange for an appointment for a thorough physical and for a review of your drinking activities.

If you beyond a doubt feel that you have a critical drinking problem, it might be a good idea to get prepared to find out that you need to get alcohol reahbilitation.

At this point in time, what are your options? You can indisputably decide against seeing your general practitioner and persist with your pattern of irresponsible drinking.

It certainly doesn’t take a nuclear physicist, however, to have a handle on the fact that long-term, out-of-control drinking, if left untreated, will worsen over time and in all probability result an early death. Therefore, your most expedient choice is to face your drinking situation and obtain the alcohol therapy you need.

The Deception of the Functioning Alcohol Dependent Person

It is somewhat odd to note the fact that many individuals who are addicted to alcohol lead busy and active lives and have jobs, vehicles, pets, families, houses, and any number of material possessions just like people who are not addicted to alcohol.

Many of these “functional” alcohol dependent people may have never been cited for drunk driving and may have been fortunate enough to avoid all alcohol-related legal predicaments. Despite this fortunate situation, nevertheless, these alcoholics need to drink in order to function on a regular basis while sustaining their facade as they associate with people outside their family.

Ask anyone who has seen them when they are out on a drunken binge or in a drunken stupor or ask a family member about the problem drinker’s alcohol dependency, then again, and they will be quick to assert the legitimacy of the drinker’s situation and the facts about the alcohol addicted individual’s drinking predicament and about his or her alcohol generated difficulties.

Why Do People Addicted to Alcohol Fail to Acknowledge Their Drinking Problems?

As alcohol dependency research and statistics on alcohol abuse have accentualted, no matter how noticeable the alcohol induced difficulties seem to those who interact with the alcoholic, alcohol dependent people commonly deny that drinking is the source of their alcohol produced predicaments. Not only this, but alcohol addicted people commonly blame their alcohol-related issues on other individuals or upon other circumstances that surround them rather than seeing their part in the difficulty.

The origin of the difficulty is that alcoholism is a disease of the brain. Once the alcohol abuser has become dependent on alcohol, he or she usually resorts to denial, manipulation, and deceit as a way of dealing with the fact that his or her drinking is out of control. And to make the situation more complex, the experience of alcohol withdrawal symptoms regularly counteracts the alcohol dependent individual’s rare attempts to suddenly refrain from drinking. As depressing as the alcohol addicted individual’s existence is, nevertheless, the positive news is that quality help is generally available – if the alcohol addicted person reaches out and tries to get alcoholism rehab.

Summary

Admitting the fact that drinking is eliciting difficulties in your day by day functioning is probably the most trouble-free way to find out if you have a drinking problem. In other words, if your drinking is bringing about issues with your health, at work, in your relationships, with your finances, at school, or with the law, then you have a drinking problem that needs to be tackled.

If you have a problem with your drinking, moreover, this means that you are getting involved with hazardous drinking.

While some problem drinkers may be able to come to grips with their “alcohol signs,” pinpoint their problems, and greatly decrease the amount and frequency of their drinking, others, conversely, need to deal with their drinking problems by getting professional alcoholism treatment. What is more, due to their propensity to deny the facts and distort the truth, alcohol addicted individuals positively need competent alcoholism therapy for their hazardous drinking.

And finally, if you feel more depressed the more you drink, you will probably need to obtain therapy for your drinking and for your depression.

You may be having them, and you may not even realise it. I’m talking about panic symptoms. If you can recognise the signs, you can halt an attack in its tracks.

Rapid heartbeat & shallow breath.

This is the biggy. If you are experiencing these symptoms at random times then it’s almost certain you are having a panic attack. Of course there may be an underlying health problem and it’s best to get checked out first. However, if it’s a panic attack then you need to act fast.

Feeling irritated constantly.

In our busy world it’s not hard to feel irritated at everyone and everything around you. But this can easily be another panic symptom. If you suffer this or any of the other symptoms you must seek help.

Losing sleep.

Lots of other things can cause sleep loss. It can also be a panic attack symptom. If you do struggle to sleep you should look deeper into it.

Do you worry more than other people?

We all worry, and we all worry all the time. Most of us don’t dwell on it. The worry seems to disappear as quick as it came. There’s a saying that if this time next year you won’t even think about it, why worry about it now. Worrying all the time about the slightest problems could well be a sign of anxiety disorder.

You can do something about it.

If you think you are experiencing any type of anxiety or panic disorder. The first thing you must do is get examined by a healthcare professional. If you get a clean bill of health this may go a long way to alleviating your symptoms.

But if you still think you might be having any of these panic symptoms there are actions you can take. Some highly regarded techniques are available to help you pinpoint the signs and to stop them in their tracks. One of the plus points of these techniques is they are totally drug free and involve no visits to hospital or shrinks of any sort.

If you recognise any of these panic symptoms you should do something about it now, before it worsens. The answer to your suffering could be here at this website Panic-Stations.com

Jesse had a hard time keeping a job. As a matter of fact, due to her sluggishness and lack of incentive, she was without a job far more regularly than she was in work. And when she did get employment, she had a difficult time getting to work in a timely manner, she often got less than passing performance reviews, and she called off sick so frequently that she usually got fired four or five weeks after she began working. To no one’s astonishment, one of the effects of Jesse’s disgraceful work track record was the fact that she was almost totally broke most of the time.

In spite of Jesse’s less than optimal employment track record and financial misbehavior, however, somehow, someway she managed to drink in a hazardous and irresponsible manner almost everyday.

So it came as no big jolt when Jesse got a second DUI. When she went before the court, the magistrate explained to Jesse that her alcohol-related behavior was awful and, as a consequence, he was going to sentence Jesse to spend nine months locked up in jail.

Time While Locked Up In Jail To Reflect On The Disruptive Effects of Irresponsible and Abusive Drinking

During her time in the city jail, Jesse was required to learn more about alcohol facts, about the negative consequences of excessive and irresponsible drinking, and she was expected to get alcohol treatment. The judge underlined the fact that unless Jesse receives professional alcohol therapy and discovers how to live a life of abstinence, she will most probably be spending a lot more time locked up.

Jesse articulated that she understood what the magistrate was saying but she still felt that placement in the city jail was not the proper sentence. The judge disagreed and proclaimed that it was his professional duty to keep alcohol abusers off the streets who drink and drive and who get arrested for a DUI. To support this assertion, the judge outlined some respected, highly researched alcohol statistics that pointed to some of the disruptive results that are linked to irresponsible and abusive drinking.

Even though Jesse comprehended that she drank in an excessive and irresponsible manner, she never believed that she was an individual who was dependent on alcohol. So it was a real shocker when Jesse began having symptoms of alcohol withdrawal roughly five hours after getting locked up in the local jail.

To monitor her alcohol withdrawal symptoms in a safe and secure manner, Jesse was taken by ambulance to a rehab center for alcohol detoxification and then returned to jail. While in jail Jesse undertook a mental health assessment for her depression and undertook alcohol rehab but because she received this treatment as something that was mandated for her, she failed to take ownership of her abusive drinking.

When her time in the county jail was completed, the magistrate without reservation told Jesse that she would be under rigorous scrutiny and would be mandated to take periodic urine alcohol tests.

Jessie’s Abusive and Irresponsible Drinking Prevents Her From Living in an Adult and Effective Manner

After hearing how Jesse was unsuccessful in taking ownership of her drinking situation and how she grudgingly followed the counseling modus operandi while in the municipal jail, the judge knew that it was basically a matter of time before he would be seeing Jesse once again in court about her excessive drinking behavior. As the judge thought about Jesse’s situation, he couldn’t help but think about how some people never ”get it” and discover how to live in a responsible and mature manner.

Daniel had been engaging in irresponsible drinking behavior since her sophomore year in college. Now, four years later, she drank more than ever. One Tuesday night when she was feeling ill, Daniel decided to stay home, lighten up, and watch television.

While trying to find something to watch that would be of interest, she at once got interested in a program about young adult and teen drinking issues.

When Normal Alcohol Addiction Symptoms and Signs are Manifested by Individuals Dependent on Alcohol

The commenter articulated the difference between alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse and then discussed the subject of alcoholic symptoms and alcoholism warning signs. When the commenter discussed a person’s alcoholic behavior and some of the more customary alcoholism symptoms and signs that individuals dependent on alcohol exhibit, Daniel got quite alarmed because it almost seemed as if the speaker was talking specifically to her.

After watching the TV program, Daniel made a promise to herself that she would telephone her health care professional the following morning and make an appointment to discuss her problem drinking.

When the next business day arrived, true to her word, Daniel called her physician and made an appointment. While she was waiting for the day of her appointment to arrive, she went on the Internet and did a search for alcoholic symptoms. Especially difficult were the following symptoms or signs: making excuses to drink at virtually every opportunity, major relationship and employment difficulties, sneaking a couple of extra drinks before social events, sleep problems, and increasing irritability.

Stated simply, since Daniel experienced all of these symptoms she went further in her online search and found quite a lot of blogs and websites that discussed diverse alcoholic warning signs and symptoms.

One of the signs that really grabbed her awareness was the following: “Do you usually drink after making a promise to yourself that you won’t?” While Daniel never totally comprehended the fact that she may have a significant drinking difficulty, after reading about the diverse alcoholic warning signs and symptoms, she couldn’t refute the fact that for the past seven or eight months, she repeatedly tried but failed at considerably diminishing her drinking or quitting entirely.

When Neighbors and Family Members Irritate You by Taking a Dim View of Your Abusive Drinking

Another alcohol dependency sign that grabbed her awareness was the following: “Have people at your place of employment annoyed you by denouncing your problem drinking?” When Daniel read this she immediately recalled a recent disagreement she had with her best girlfriend about her excessive drinking. Moreover, Daniel plainly called to mind a recent argument she had with her parents about her irresponsible drinking. Since Daniel frankly believed that she didn’t have a drinking issue, when relatives pointed out her drinking behavior she true to form got upset and mad.

A third alcoholic warning sign was the following: “Do you want a drink when you first awaken in the morning?” Until now, Daniel had been deceiving herself about her drinking situation. After reading about the aforementioned alcoholism warning symptoms, conversely, she knew in her heart of hearts that she was facing a critical drinking issue, especially given the fact that she now felt that she needed a drink the first thing when she got up to lessen her nervous tension.

What is more, the next alcohol dependency symptom really got her thinking about her drinking situation: “Do you drink to get away from suffering or reality?” When she reflected on her life for a few minutes, she realized that practically in every taxing circumstance in the past few months, she told herself that she needed a drink to help cope with things.

The final alcoholic warning sign that made her feel especially anxious about her drinking problem was the following: “Has your ambition diminished since you started drinking on a more routine basis?” When Daniel read this sign she visibly realized that drinking had become a severe problem in her life because of her lack of energy and also because she stopped pursuing her passions and her dreams.

Summary: When Getting Morose Turns Into Something Exhilarating and A Sense of Anticipation

After pondering the significance of all of these negative alcohol dependency signs and symptoms, Daniel at first felt sad. Then something fantastic transpired. She reflected on the fact knew that she was going to see her physician about her drinking and she also knew that she would talk about all of the above alcohol dependency warning signs and symptoms with her. In fact, for the first time in numerous months, Daniel sincerely felt a sense of hope because she was addressing her drinking difficulties and was at last ready to make the necessary modifications so that she could repossess the life that was sliding away.

Jennifer is a forty-one-year-old junior sales consultant who has been ingesting alcohol in a hazardous and abusive manner since her live-in boyfriend and she broke up their relationship. Indeed, for the past three months she has been drinking just about a bottle of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking a number shots throughout the day. In short, Jennifer has been drinking so excessively and abusively that it’s a wonder that she hasn’t suffered from alcohol poisoning.

After feeling unhappy because she was starting to disregard her health, Jennifer finally told herself that she’s had enough, that it’s time to quit the self pity act, that it’s time to quit the abusive and irresponsible drinking, and time to move on with her life. So the following Saturday morning at 8:30 AM, she made up her mind to stop drinking cold turkey.

When She Quit Drinking She Felt Horrific, She Vomited Numerous Times, She Was Extremely Moody and uptight, She Started to Sweat Extensively, Her Head Was Pounding, and She Had Utterly No Appetite

When Jennifer quit drinking, she figured that she would more likely than not be tempted to have a few drinks, but she never figured that she would feel so sick. More correctly, around an hour after she stopped drinking, she was extremely moody and anxious, she had utterly no appetite, she started to perspire extensively, her head was pounding, and she vomited several times.

When she called her best buddy and told her that she had quit drinking and that after a couple of hours she abruptly started to experience flu-like symptoms, Emily, her best buddy, told Jennifer to call her medical doctor and tell him what she was experiencing.

She Admits to Her Healthcare Practitioner That She Has Been Drinking In an Abusive and Excessive Manner, That She Just Tried to Quit Drinking, and That She is Experiencing Terribly Unpleasant Flu-Like Symptoms

So Jennifer called her healthcare practitioner, informed him that she has been drinking in an abusive manner for many months and that when she made an effort to abruptly quit drinking earlier in the day, within a couple of hours she felt as if she had the most awful flu-like symptoms that she had ever experienced.

Her physician told her that she may be experiencing symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and that she should have a friend or neighbor drive her to the emergency room as soon as humanly possible.

As soon as Jennifer got off the phone, she got a friend to take her to the emergency room. Interestingly, as sick as Jennifer was, all she could think about all the way to the hospital was whether or not she might be addicted to alcohol.

Apparently her family doctor had phoned ahead and informed the emergency room staff to expect Jennifer because when she got to the hospital, she was met by a paramedic and a nurse who without hesitation told her to lie down on the portable bed they had with them. After getting wheeled to the emergency room and undergoing two or three essential tests, it was corroborated that Jennifer was in actual fact experiencing alcohol withdrawal symptoms and was in need of alcohol detox.

A healthcare professional administered some meds to lessen her flu-like symptoms and also gave her some drugs to help get rid of the alcohol that was still in her blood.

An Alcohol Abuse and Alcohol Dependency Medical Practitioner Explains in a Clear Fashion That She is Alcohol Dependent and Then Discusses What Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms and Alcohol Dependency Stages Are

After a couple of hours, Jennifer was taken from the ER and transported to the recovery room. After she was in recovery for roughly two hours, Doctor Kanter, a substance abuse and alcohol abuse specialist, came to talk to her. He took plenty of time and explained in a clear fashion that Jennifer had experienced alcohol withdrawal symptoms when she stopped drinking due to the fact that she had become an alcoholic.

He then elucidated the fact that with repeated and excessive drinking, the person’s brain gradually becomes accustomed to the alcohol so that it can operate in a “normal” fashion. When the individual then suddenly refrains from drinking, as one would expect, the brain reacts by producing alcohol withdrawal symptoms. What is more, her doctor also clearly explained the various alcoholism stages that an alcohol addicted individual typically goes through as the disease gets worse over time.

It is Discovered that Jennifer is in the First Stage of Alcohol Addiction and She Obtains a Good Diagnosis For a Full Recovery if She Gets the Alcohol Addiction Rehabilitation She Needs

Fortunately for Jennifer, it was discovered that she was in the first stage of alcohol dependency and, consequently, she got a good prognosis for a complete recovery if she will get the alcohol rehabilitation she needs.

Jennifer told the healthcare practitioner that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to reclaim her life. She also mentioned that she has an excellent hospitalization plan that will more likely than not pay for most of the costs required for rehab. It was apparent that Jennifer was quite thankful about her optimistic medical prognosis and felt at ease knowing that she will be able to get the alcohol addiction therapy she needs so that she can begin the road to recovery.

When Janice was in high school, she had gained a reputation as an individual who studied a lot and who rarely, if ever, let her hair down by drinking with her pals. She seemed driven to do well academically so that she would be able to secure a career that she not only liked but one that also gave her some security from a financial point of view.

After much contemplation, in due course she decided that she wanted to be a lawyer. In order to do this, nevertheless, she would first have to complete four years of undergrad education.

After Graduating From High School Janice Gets Accepted Into A Distinguished Undergraduate University as a Springboard For a Career as a Trial Lawyer

After Janice graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into a greatly admired program in linguistics. Her rationale for this decision was that this academic discipline would be a good springboard for law school and wouldn’t be identical to the majority of law school applicants who select political science as their undergraduate major.

After graduating with a 3.65 GPA at the undergraduate level, she applied to and was accepted at an outstanding law school at one of the Ivy League universities.

She was enthusiastic about her legal studies but on occasion she was inundated with all the work that had to be done at law school. Not unlike her high school and undergraduate days, nonetheless, she made friends painlessly but barely participated in social events until the semester was done.

After Being Delighted With the Fact That She Had Done Extremely Well on Her Exams, Janice Wanted to Let Her Hair Down and Do Something Besides Studying For a Change

Janice was the type of person who worked in a diligent manner to reach her goal and then would take a few days off when she could. As is the case, however, the vast majority of the things she did between school sessions or during her summer vacations were unrelated to drinking. Clearly, Janice was anything but a party-person. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were over and being delighted with the fact that she had done a super job on her tests, nonetheless, she wanted to let her hair down and do something enjoyable.

Drinking at a Local Bar Results in Alcohol Poisoning, Calling 911, The Emergency Number, and a Visit to An Alcohol Treatment Hospital

So Janice and a few of her buddies went to a local bar where they had a few glasses of wine. As the hours went by, Janice continued to drink without having any concerns about research projects or tests the next day. If truth be told, Janice revealed to her pals how excited she was to ”get down” and drink with her classmates from her apartment.

As the evening went by, Janice and her buddies continued to drink. As a matter of fact, she was having so much fun that she didn’t want the night to end. It was almost like she was making up for lost time and making an effort to stuff a year’s worth of fun and excitement into a single evening. Such a “game plan,” however, does not often work. In truth, when Janice went to the restroom and threw up, her buddies started to get concerned about her health.

About ten minutes later when Janice started to slur her words, speak in a confused manner, and then become unconscious, nonetheless, her friends promptly realized that they needed to call the emergency number and ask for medical assistance because they thought that Janice was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Once Janice was in the hospital, the presiding physician confirmed what her classmates had hypothesized, to be precise, that Janice consumed substantially more alcohol than her body could process and, as a consequence, she suffered from an alcohol overdose.

After the medical team pumped her stomach until no gastric contents were detectable, Janice was wheeled to the recovery room. After staying approximately five hours in recovery, Janice was then moved to one of the regular hospital rooms. Fortunately, the most critical part of her hospitalization had passed and all of her vital signs returned to normal.

In response to Janice’s hospitalization, her classmates caringly phoned her Mother and Father. As a result, early the next day, her Mom and Dad and her best buddies went to the hospital to see Janice.

Janice Dodges a Bullet, is Gratified to be Alive, and Promises to Never Again Drink in an Irresponsible and Hazardous Manner

Janice was conscious of the fact that she came close to dying and, as a result, was gratified to be alive. Her parents were aware how intensely she studied at college and how little she let herself socialize with her buddies. Nonetheless, they also realized that Janice needed to stay away from irresponsible drinking.

As a consequence, they recommended that down the road, whenever a drinking occasion develops, that she always drink in moderation. Janice was in agreement with this and promised her friends and her Mother and Father that she would never again drink in an excessive and irresponsible manner. In Janice’s own words, “I never thought that I would become one of the alcohol abuse and alcoholism statistics in the local college newspaper. I now grasp the fact that abusive and irresponsible drinking is not for me. I promise that this will never happen again.”

Fortunately, Janice was not only “book smart” but she also possessed common sense. That is, she instantaneously grasped the fact that she had made an error and decided that she would never make the same error again. As a matter of fact, she now understood that she had involved herself in “binge drinking” and that even one instance of this kind of hazardous drinking can end in death.
